9-28-17

*The class was learning about writing/reading: -Protagonist -Antagonist -Theme -Point of view -Setting -Static -Resolution -Climax -Drama -Conflict-----Internal/external -Rising/falling action *They worked on their writing narratives: *Strategies of the teacher: - Repeats questions -calls on multiple people to have a collective answer. *I was able to work one on one with a student and get there insight. *In summary I was able to observe the teacher teaching the kids and the techniques she uses. Also, I was able to work one on one with a student and got to help them with their lead assignment.

9-27-17

*The kids had a silent reading day. -I went around the room and discussed their book with them as well as what their learning(Sign Post), which is reading evidence within the book. In summary I got to discuss with the kids about their book. Also I noticed as a I walked around the room the kids who do work and those who do not. I found out that usually those who focus more are the quiet kids. To continue there are some really good readers in the class but they almost always have that one friend that distracts them. Its really interesting because you can tell at a early age you can possibly tell the great potential that the kids have in life.

9-26-17

*There was a sub teaching so i had the upper hand when it came to calming down the class when they were loud. *When I got to the classroom the kids were taking a vocab test. -After words the sub reviewed the words that they just took a test on. -In stead of the kids having reading time the sub and I decided that it would be more beneficial to the kids of they had time to work on there narrative leads assignment. In summary as a observed and helped the kids I noticed the kids who were on track and those who were doing their work. Also, I was able to help them and the sub plan out the lesson for that day.

9-25-17

*I observed the kids while they were taking an online test. *The kids were observing the text in their reading. -Context clues -Imagery -Inner thinking Small actions + Exact dialogue = The were learning how to write an essay. -Types of leads assignment. In summary I was able to help kids with there types of leads assignment as well as get to know how how the teacher teaches writing to the kids.

9-22-17

*I observed the teacher for a little bit. *I got to start by book club for the first time. I talked about WW2 and the Holocaust. After I reviewed the kids and I started to read chapter one with some discussion questions. In summary I got to teach the students in my book group for the first time and discussed the chapter with them to see if they could comprehend what they read.

*I observed the kids in class in doing an assignment. English Text Analysis Context Clues *I went around the room and  helped the kids with reading their story. *I quizzed them on what they had been testing in class today. Topics: Contrast Contradictions Aha Moment Tough Question Word of the Wiser Again and Again Memory Moment *Understanding the novel: Comprehention Quizzing the kids on the test they had today. In summary, I was able to connect to the kids by having them read to me. Also I quizzed them in topics they learned in class as well as their book they are reading currently.

9-19-17

*When I came into class the kids were working on reading and understanding what they have read. * There was a substitute  so it gave me experience on what the kids are like in different leadership situation. *I helped the kids get on Google Classroom to they could take a quiz and study on the quizlet website. *I also started to organize and write the curriculum within my book group. In summary, I was given experience with the students without a teacher, helped the kids get on a informational website and I started to write the curriculum for my group.

9-18-17

* The kids worked on vocab. * The teacher and I started to form ideas on the book club/group time I'm going to be organizing. *  The book club will consist of 4-5 students. *The students will be given insight on the Holocaust. Videos Articles Questions In summary I formed ideas on my book club while organizing ways to give the information to the kids. In doing this it will provide me a better understanding on teaching.

9-15-17

*One on one with students: Three *Read a book *Summarized what the chapter was about I read with the kids and helped them if they had any trouble and summarized what happened in the chapter.

9-14-17

*One on one with the teacher *Time observing the teacher *I presented(Handed out papers) *It was their first day of ROAR *Google Classroom--Got to see their reading level *"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas"--Book *Objective: Find article by next Thursday on the story of the Holocaust
